The Old House School

An old house has a way of owning us, rather than the other way around. I learned this slowly, just living with my family in our place. An old house teaches you things—a masterclass written in squeaks and cracks, in tool-marks left by hands long gone, in perfect seams that still hold tight after 150 years. After struggling through my first few window restorations at home, something clicked. This work is ludicrously fun and fulfilling in a way I didn't expect. There's nothing quite like peeling back 100 years of paint to expose that clear, tight grain underneath, setting everything to rights, making it work the way it was made to work. These old windows became my passion, then my mission. If you've trusted me to work on yours, thank you.
